Bobo-Dioulasso Stadium: Burkina Faso’s New Sporting Jewel in the Making

By Moussa Traoré

Burkina Faso is on the verge of unveiling a new landmark in its sporting landscape. The Stade de Léguéma in Bobo-Dioulasso, a 15,000-seat facility, is rapidly taking shape and promises to transform the country’s second-largest city into a hub for football and athletics.

Progress on Track

During a recent inspection, the Minister of Sports, Youth and Employment, Annick Pikbougoum, expressed satisfaction with the pace of construction. The Turkish company Integral Group, tasked with the project, confirmed that work is now 75% complete. From the stands to the technical spaces, metal structures, and prefabricated benches, progress is steady and aligned with the April 2026 delivery deadline.

Built to International Standards

Designed to meet CAF and FIFA Category 3 requirements, the stadium will feature:

  • A roof covering all spectator stands

  • A synthetic playing surface

  • Modern technical facilities and equipment

Project director Selim Kizilaslan assured stakeholders that earlier challenges have been resolved and that the stadium will be delivered on time, emphasizing quality and compliance with international standards.

A Boost for Youth and Sport

The stadium is part of a broader presidential initiative to modernize sports infrastructure across Burkina Faso. Once completed, it will not only host football matches but also serve as a training ground for athletics and youth development programs. For Bobo-Dioulasso, the project represents more than concrete and steel—it is a symbol of pride, opportunity, and progress.

Ovation’s Take

The Stade de Léguéma is poised to become a beacon of Burkinabè resilience and ambition. More than a venue, it is a promise to the nation’s youth: that their talents deserve world-class stages.
